Bunnyman (2011)

I don't think I have the words to describe how bad this movie was, but I'll attempt to explain.
The story deals with a serial killer, dubbed "the Bunnyman" due to the filthy costume he wears for reasons never explained. After coming across a group of rather dimwitted friends who are on a road trip to Vegas, he proceeds to kill them off, one by one, with the help of his partner.
Now, if the director was aiming for a bad horror movie, he failed at even that. It's not even a good bad horror movie (Rubber, anyone?)--it's one of those painfully unwatchable ones. It could have been a better movie if it was done right (better acting, better special effects, more background explanation), but the plot was so jerky and disjointed that as soon as the credits started rolling, I was so confused that I felt I needed to rewatch the entire movie just to understand it. But unfortunately, it had no rewatch value at all.
I'm honestly not even sure why I decided to watch this movie in the first place after seeing the rating (2.9 out of 10) it got on IMDB. Maybe I enjoy wasting my time.
Anyway, I definitely would not recommend this film to anyone. I can't think of any redeeming factors, except maybe that it's laughably horrible.
And to think there's a sequel. . . yikes!

Devil (2010)

After a long period of time with this movie on my Netflix list, I finally decided to watch it a couple days ago. Considering I didn't really expect it to be good in any sense of the word, I can't tell if I was disappointed or not.
The movie started off as a thriller rather than a horror movie, and continued to give the same vibe throughout the film. That wouldn't be such a bad thing (I love thrillers just as much as I love horror movies), but this movie wasn't just a thriller--it seemed like a thriller trying to act like a horror film, and it wasn't doing a very good job. The tone was simply not creepy enough, and although a supernatural entity was part of the main story, it felt more like a crime flick.
That's not to say that it was a terrible movie, though. The acting was decent and the plot was interesting enough; however, it may have been executed a bit poorly. Even near the end of the movie when the "devil" is revealed, I was confused about who they really were. Satan? A demon? Or just a killer? Leaving the audience with these questions could have been intentional but it didn't seem like it, and that's what kills the plot for me. I don't mind being left with unanswered questions--just as long as I know for a fact that I'm not supposed to know the answers.
If you're looking for a horror flick to kill time, go ahead and give this movie a try. But if you're looking for something you're really going to enjoy, I suggest sticking to the classics for now.
